Desert Storm 2012 Photos Lake Havasu

Well it’s been here and gone, the 2012 Desert Storm Poker Run and Shoot Out in Lake Havasu AZ . We couldn’t have asked for better weather, it made perfect conditions for taking photos of all the Desert Storm events we would be taking for Riverdavesplace.com as part of the RDP photo team.

We left Orange County on Wednesday night and arrived in Lake Havasu around 1:30am which was fine since we didn’t have to be up to early on Thursday. We made our way to the Street Party around noon on Thursday and took a ton of photos of boats, cars and all the other things that were on display McCulloch Blvd. We stuck around till 10:00 when the street closed, and headed out for dinner and reviewed or photos from the day.

Friday was the big day, the Desert Storm Poker Run. We launched the boat at 6am and made our way to Pilot Rock to get some great action photos of the boats as they made their way to the first card stop of the Poker Run at the opposite end of the lake. I am pretty sure I got a photo or two of every boat / team that was in the event. After all the boats were back and heading to lunch break, we made our way to Pirate Cove located at Park Moabi, and got some great photos of the boats that were in the Poker Run as they were going through the Topock Gorge on their way to Pirates Cove as well, the red canyon walls and the calm water made for great photos.

Saturday was the Desert Storm Shoot Out, and again we were on the water early to get the best spot possible to get photos of the boats at their top speed. You won’t see many photos of the shoot out because it was a pretty big letdown, not many boats and just not worth sitting and taking photos of, so we cruised the lake and took photos of boats parked in the London Bridge canal, or out on the lake. It was a great trip and came back with over 1,800 photos from the 2012 Desert Storm, and already looking forward to next year’s event.

Lake Puddingstone Sprint Boat Race Photos

Sprint Boat Racing returned back to the shores of Lake Puddingstone on March 24th & 25th., and I was there both days to watch the race as well as taking plenty of the racing action photos. Saturday started off a little slow, but at least the weather cooperated for the racing action. Sunday was a different story, with periods of rain, wind, and grey sky made for an interesting race day, as well as making it tough to get any really good photos of the boat race action. I managed to get about 700 action photos for the 2 days combined, as well as an 11 frame photo sequence of the #10 SST boats flip. I talked to the #10 team at the end of the race, to see how the driver was. Diver was OK, and the whole team took a look at the flip sequence on the camera LCD screen. Parker Water Ski Race Photos – 2012 Opener

As always the Season Opener for the 2012 Water Ski Racing was another great event. This year was a new format with Sprint Races on Saturday and the Marathons ran on Sunday. This seemed to work good with plenty of Water Ski Racing offered to all classes. I hope they run this format more, as it makes for some great action photos, with the sprint and marathon races on different days, it allowed time to get to different points and offered up different angles to get some great racing photos.
The next Water Ski Race is in Lake Havasu, Az April 21 and 22 so if you are in the area come out and watch, this will be a standard Marathon weekend with some great racing.

2012 Parker Water Ski Race Opener

Well it’s that time of year again for the first water ski race, the season opener in Parker AZ. From the looks of things it is shaping up to be a great weekend of racing with the weather in the mid 80s, Sprint races on Saturday, and the marathon races on Sunday there will be plenty of action, so watch for all of water ski racing photos from the weekend. I will be posting them a few days after the race so check back.

Best place to watch the race is from the Cantina at Blue Water Resort , the action is fast and close with racing all day Saturday and Sunday.

Southridge Rnd II Downhill Photos

I know a few weeks have flew by since round 2 of the Southridge Winter Series, but I am finally getting around to posting a few photos from the Downhill race on Sunday. I am a little behind on the rest of the SRC mountain bike racing as well, but will have those up soon as well. I am looking forward to the finals on March 3rd and 4th. Southridge Winter Series Round two

Well it looks like it may be a nice weekend for the races at Southridge this weekend. With rain in the forecast pre race day, the trails should be in great shape as long as it’s not too much rain. I wouldn’t mind throwing my bike in and doing the Super D, but more than likely I will just make the drive out with my camera a get photos of the Downhill Mountain Bike racing action, and some of the Super D. I missed round one, but did make it out for the 20th ANNUAL Southridge USA CHALLENGE and got some great photos of the downhill practice and those can be found in my galleries and previous blog. Hopping for a good overnight rain and clear sky tomorrow.

Weeked Surf Photos

I had been following the swell that was hitting the Orange County shoreline, and knew I would not be able to surf, so I grabbed my camera gear and headed down the coast. My first stop was Seal Beach to grab some photos, the swell was still there, but the high tide had shut it down a bit. I ended up getting some great photos of the Skimboarders as well as the bodyboarders. We stuck around Seal Beach about an hour or two then down the coast some more, We pulled into the Huntington Cliffs, and watched for a while, but no photos were taken. We ended up at the Huntington Beach Pier and took a ton of surf photos of the North side of the pier. I really wish I could have went out, the conditions just got better as the day went, the size wasn’t as big as they had forecasted, but the shape and conditions were great. I will be posting more photos from the day, as well as photos from the Sean Collins Paddle Out that was held on the Southside of the pier on Sunday. For now here are a few to look at.

Huntington Beach Photos

With the Holiday season in full swing, I haven’t had much time to get out and do photography, so I had to do something this weekend. With all the crazy weather we have been having I thought we may get a great sunset, but on my way to the beach the sky almost totally cleared up except a few clouds. I ended up at Huntington Beach Pier and did what I could as far as photos, it wasn’t the best conditions, but at least I got out to take some beach photos. I think I ended up with about 15 photos of the pier, and then just random photos around Huntington Beach.

Racing Gallery Photos Added

Well I finally got around to putting a few photos on the racing gallery. So far I have some boat racing photos from various locations as well as some from the 2010 Best of the Desert Parker 425. This section will have every kind of motorsports racing from Desert to Track, and Open Ocean to lakes and rivers. This gallery should be updated quite often with racing action photos. I will also post upcoming events I will be at on the blog as well, so you can check back for the race photos after the event.

New Boat Racing Photos Updated
